Individual Psychotherapy

Dr. Goldwasser’s therapeutic style evolved from his training and orientation as a cognitive-behavioral psychologist. His emphasis on personal goals, treatment planning, and structure along with flexibility, most often yields positive treatment outcomes and the achievement of many, if not all, therapeutic goals. For Dr. Goldwasser, the goal of therapy is to be out of therapy, not to stay in indefinitely. His focused, yet supportive approach to the accomplishing of one’s treatment goals, often allows the length of therapy to be considerably shorter, as opposed to what often occurs in more open-ended approaches to therapy.
Additionally, Dr. Goldwasser embraces multi-modal therapy (multiple modalities), which is an eclectic, client-centered approach to treatment that focuses on meeting each patient’s individual needs, as opposed to getting patients to fit into a therapist’s particular orientation or training. Dr. Goldwasser has embraced this approach to therapy for many years, and has had extensive training in many treatment modalities to make sure that he has the ability to meet the individual needs of each patient or family. In addition to his doctorate training in clinical psychology, his additional therapy training includes over 25 years of advanced EMDR trauma training and experience, clinical hypnotherapy, Gottman Method couples therapy, Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS), Schema-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Advanced Psychopharmacology.
Dr. Goldwasser often uses ancillary resources such as books, articles, and publications to augment the therapy experience. He also utilizes well-selected therapy assignments to enhance the achievement of goals in a more time-efficient manner. Additionally, over the past 30 years of practicing in South Florida, Dr. Goldwasser has developed an impressive network of colleagues, including psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, coaches, organizational specialists, attorneys, physicians, and alternative medical practitioners, with whom he works as a team, to assist patients to receive the optimal level of comprehensive care.
Patients are assured that their treatment plan will always be tailored to their specific needs, and augmented with whatever additional resources that are needed to assist them in achieving their therapeutic goals.
